The Story

Our team at The AdThing at the University of Utah were approached by a student group on campus with a PSA: spreading the awkward but seriously important message of “having the talk again.” They wanted a more robust campaign, with a spot or two and a website. 

Not the sex talk, the death talk. It turns out a lot of people in America don’t talk about their death wishes before they die, leaving difficult legal, financial and family issues to deal with.

Working with Saint Cloud, a production house in Salt Lake City, we wrote, casted and got to production on two versions of the idea: The Kitchen and The Car

Ultimately…

We shot in one day, two locations. The director of the spots, Ashkan Mamiriam, took lead edit on The Kitchen while I took over for The Car.

The spots were completed and dormant for awhile, until the original group of students regrouped a year later under the new (maybe less morbid) moniker “Have The Talk Again.”
