The Warrior Whispers Back
“I Am The Storm”
For their 2018 campaign Utah Gymnastics was running with the clean and beautiful imagery of Utah’s western desert, or salt flats. The location had been set when I received the call to write and shoot their season intro video. I ran with a concept developed by the team as a theme for their season: we are warriors.

The marketing team at Utah Gymnastics wanted a season long social media standard to go along with the intro video visual style and concept.
Utilizing photography by Kory Mortensen, I developed templates for the team to use weekly.
In addition to post templates, I created an animation template to illustrate the team’s regular travel for competition.
The white and copper in the template comes as inspiration from the Kennecott Copper Mine near Salt Lake City.
Ultimately…
The marketing collateral from the season drew a lot of attention and some high praise.
ESPN’s Laura Rutledge even called it one of the best college athletics intros she has ever seen, and Utah alumni and ESPN reporter Holly Rowe was “obsessed.”
